Breeding/Artificial Insemination
Many owners find the companionship of their dogs so rewarding that they want to breed their dog to continue their bloodline and/or keep a puppy.
There are important things to consider before breeding, and we are here to help. Our Doctors at Care offer a few different services that go along with breeding. These services are offered for canine patients and specific breeds only, within the Doctors discretion and consultation.
- Examination and health screenings for both breeding parents is recommended to minimize health issues in their puppies.

- Progesterone Testing
- Progesterone testing helps determine when the right time is to breed, and can also be recommended during the pregnancy to maintain the pregnancy.

- Ultrasound and Radiograph testing for puppy count verification and health of the puppy’s growth is offered.
- Artificial Insemination is offered if natural breeding is not working.

- Surgical Artificial Insemination is offered for specific breeds and/or needs for the females.

- If the need arises, for the safety of the mother and/or the puppies, our Doctors will perform cesarean section (C-Section) surgery to remove the puppies from the mother’s uterus.
